حيث حدثتنا شيماء عن تجربتها السابقة مع فريقها الأم اف سي كولن 🐐 الذي يعد من أعرق الفرق الألمانية 🇩🇪 في كرة القدم النسائية، مؤكدة عن فضل هذا الفريق في تكوينها الرياضي القاعدي على أسس صحيحة إضافة للدور الذي لعبه في تكوين شخصيتها حيث مرت بجميع الأصناف الشابة وكان لها شرف المشاركة مع الكبريات في سن صغيرة. 

وعلى إثر تألقها وتصعيدها في سن مبكرة للعب بالبنديسليغا كبريات إضافة لتمثيلها لمنتخب المانيا تحت 15 سنة تلقت مايناهز 30 عرض من مختلف الجامعات والأكاديميات إلا أنها وبعد تفكير عميق اختارت الالتحاق بجامعة UMass بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية 🇺🇸 لمواصلة مشوارها الاحترافي والدراسي وهي سعيدة بهذا الاختيار وقد أكدت أن أهم عامل ساعدها على هذا الاختيار هو مدرب الفريق الذي تنقل شخصيا لملاقاتها صحبة عائلتها بألمانيا وحدثها عن المعهد والمشروع الكروي خلال قادم المواسم إضافة إلى تواجد أفضل أصدقائها بنفس الجامعة. 

وعن تجربتها الكروية بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية صرحت أنها للأسف لم تتمكن من اللعب بصفة منتظمة خلال الموسمين الأولين نظرا لتتالي الإصابات التي لحقت بها على مستوى الركبة لكن كلها إصرار من أجل تحقيق انطلاقة حقيقية وقوية خلال الموسم الجديد وقد تعافت من الإصابة مضيفة أنها وجدت كل الدعم والمساندة من المدرب والمسؤولين وهي مدينة لهم كثيرا. 

وفي جوابها فيما يتعلق تمثيلها للمنتخب التونسي قالت: 💬 "أنا فخورة جدا بأنني تونسية واعشق كثيرا الدفاع عن راية بلدي 🇹🇳، فلعب كرة القدم على المستوى الدولي يعتبر دائما طموح أي لاعبة وسيكون شرف كبير لي في صورة تواجدي ضمن مجموعة المنتخب الوطني 🇹🇳" 

وعن طموحاتها واهدافها صرحت أنها على المدى القريب تسعى لاسترجاع إمكانيتها والعودة لمستواها الطبيعي وأن تكون أكثر صلابة لتتفادى الإصابات، أما على المدى البعيد فتطمح لاستكمال مشوارها الدراسي بتحصلها على شهادة الأستاذية وستنتظر ما يخبأ لها القدر في المستقبل. 

كما أكدت أنها تقوم مع عائلتها بزيارة دورية لتونس في كل صيف لكن لم تتمكن من القدوم خلال هذه الصائفة نظرا لاستفحال فيروس كورونا المستجد عالميا لكنها سوف تأتي خلال الصيف القادم أن شاء الله. 

وفيما يخص المنتخب التونسي للسيدات في صيغته الجديدة أفادت شيماء أنها تابعت مقابلة تنزانيا وملخص مباراة المغرب وأشادت بالمستوى الجيد الذي بلغته عناصرنا الوطنية وأكدت أنه مع تظافر الجهود والدعم لهذه المجموعة سنتمكن من بناء منتخب قادر على المنافسة في مستويات عالية.

Chaima is student-athlete at the University of Massachusetts UMass Lowell Women's Soccer in the US 🇺🇲 In this interview you will get to know her true colours and her love for Tunisia.

A great talent that we one day hope represent our flag and national team 🇹🇳🦅

🔴 Asslema Chaima, we are happy to get an interview with you. Can you please introduce yourself?

🔵 Asslema, I’m Chaima Khammar. I was born on the 14th of September 1999, I’m 20 years old. I’m a student-athlete at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the US and my position is attacking mid.

🔴 Please Tell us how you were introduced to football?

🔵 My twin always loved playing soccer so she started playing club football. She was trying to convince me and half a year later I started playing in the same club team with her. And that’s where it all started.

🔴 You played for a big traditional club in Germany named 1.FC Köln. Tell us about your experience with this club.

🔵 1.FC Köln is a great club when it comes to the youth teams. They always made an effort to make me better as a player and as a person as they wanted me to play for the U-17 team even though I was in the U-15 team. I’m proud to say that I went through every youth team they had and even got the chance to play pro in the first team.

🔴 A scholarship from UMASS was given to you during your time at Köln Bundesliga first team, how did that come around?

🔵 @scholarbook texted me and asked if I was interested in playing in America and that I would have great chances to get a full ride scholarship because I played for the under 15 national team and in the Bundesliga. At that time, I was still recovering from an injury and I wasn’t happy at 1.FC Köln anymore, which is why I decided to go to the States to play soccer and continue my education.

I had around 30 offers from different schools and decided to go to UMass Lowell because it was the best fit. I’m glad that I made that decision and I’m even happier about my parents supporting me wherever they could. They’ve helped me with the decision making and everything that came after that. I’m really proud of them!!

🔴 What was the biggest factor in your decision to come and be a student at UMASS?

🔵 The biggest factor for me deciding to go to UMass Lowell was the coach. He came to Germany to meet my family and I, and I liked everything he said about the school and his plans for the upcoming years. However, the fact that one of my best friends from Germany went to the same school was also a big factor.

🔴 How is it being a female player from Germany and integrating to the new scene in the US?

🔵 The transition was really easy. The team definitely helped a lot. Especially in the beginning, everyone was excited to get to know us. And we always had someone to talk to. Everyone is nice and ready to help.

🔴 What are some of the differences you realized between the two places and what made you decide to pursue your education/footballing career at UMASS?

🔵 Attending a university in America is not comparable to Germany. There’s a lot of money involved, thus the experience of going to college in America is better than in Germany in my view.

I love both places and they’re both different but good in their own way.

I’m happy with my decision and I’m excited for what the future holds.

🔴 Tell us about your current football experience in The United States and some of the difficulties you faced when you came here ? We heard you had an injury when you first started at UMASS how did you cope with it?

🔵 Of course going to a new country is always hard in the beginning and you face some difficulties.

Like I said, the team and the coaches helped me a lot and made the transition much easier.

Nevertheless, there are things where even my friends can’t help. After a month of being in the US, I tore my ACL again and it was the hardest time of my life. I had to get surgery in a new country without my family being around and the season was over for me. But there were so many people that helped me get through it and I’ll never forget what they did for me.

I’m really thankful for them. Unfortunately, I can’t say much about my soccer experience because right after I came back from my ACL surgery, I tore my meniscus in the same knee. I wasn’t able to play my first two seasons. But I won’t give up and in sha Allah this upcoming season, I’ll be injury free and enjoy my passion again.

🔴 Regarding your experience with the German U15 women’s national team, how was your experience?

🔵 I can’t say much about that either because it was just one game against the Netherlands and two or three training camps. After that I tore my ACL on my other knee. But the time with the national team was great and I learned a lot.

🔴 If Tunisia were ever to invite you to the national team, what would your response be?

🔵 I’m proud to be Tunisian and I would love to play for my country. Playing soccer at an international level is always exciting and it would be an honor to be part of the Tunisian national team.

🔴 That's great. How are you dealing with the current coronavirus situation and what has changed to your daily life schedule?

🔵 I’m waiting on the county opening up so I can go back for preseason which is supposed to start in August. I just hate the fact that I don’t know when I’ll be able to go back but I’m enjoying my time here in Germany with my family and friends and I’m staying in shape to be ready for the season, because it will be the first season after my 2 year injury break. I’m excited to give my team and coaches something back because they were my #1 supporters.

🔴 There are many aspiring women footballer in Tunisia who will probably look up to you after this interview and advices for them to have a chance achieving their dreams?

🔵 First of all, don’t ever doubt yourself! Your mind plays a huge role in soccer.

Work as hard as you can EVERYDAY. And work both on your strengths and weaknesses.

And don’t forget to have fun. Good luck to every player out there trying to achieve their goals!

🔴 Which footballers you try to replicate your game to?

🔵 I don’t have specific players I try to replicate. There are a lot of excellent players but I’m just trying to play my own style.

🔴 And who is your favorite Tunisian player and football team?

🔵 My favorite Tunisian player is Msakni and my favorite team in Tunisia is ESS.

🔴 Best moment in your career so far?

🔵 I have two best moments: That game for the national team and also the game against Wolfsburg at their stadium. I got to play 10 mins which isn’t much but getting to play against the best team in Germany was a great experience.

🔴 What are your goals short-term and long-term?

🔵 My short-term goal is to get fit, get back to 100% and be more resistant to injuries. My long-term goal is to finish my master’s degree and then I’ll see what the future holds.

🔴 Any hobbies aside from football you enjoy doing?

🔵 Yes I love playing Basketball!

🔴 Have you ever visited Tunisia and do you plan on visiting soon?

🔵 Yeah we go to Tunisia every summer. This year, we won’t because of the coronavirus but we’re planning on visiting Tunisia next summer again.

🔴 The tunisian female national team celebrated since January 2020 his comeback with some good matches. Did you watch the matches and what do you think about the level of our national team?

🔵 I’ve watched a game against Tanzania and a summary of the game against Morocco and the team is way better than I thought honestly. When you think about African female national teams, you can’t compare them to the national teams in Europe, the US or even Asia. From what I’ve seen though. With more practices and more money, you can form a good team.

🔴 At the end of our interview there is anything you want I say to the Tunisian people?

🔵 In sha Allah you’re all good and healthy. Tahia Tunis and stay safe my people.
